| Abstract: | Summary Rats, kept in cages, show a transitory weight loss after exposure to high altitude, due to a reduced food intake. The measurement of the extent and the duration of the weight loss before the weight prior to exposure is regained can be used for the determination of the adaptability. The results of measurements at 3,450 m show that the adaptability decreases with age.
