二十世纪初，中国经历了前所未有的震荡与激变，强势的西方文化把整个中国都卷入到“西化”的浪潮中。面对民族和文化的双重危机，以辜鸿铭、杜亚泉、梁漱溟为代表的文化保守主义，高举中国传统文化，以复兴传统文化来振兴民族精神。他们与新文化派展开了一系列的论战。中西文化之争便成了世纪之初我们民族精神生命层面的主流。

On Chinese and Western Cultural Concept of Gu Hongming, Du Yaquan and Liang Shuming

China was experiencing the unprecedented shake and cataclysm in the early 20 century, and the entire Chinese culture was involved in the Westernization of the strong western culture. Facing the dual crises of nation and culture, as representative of culture conservatism, Gu Hongming, Du Yaquan and Liang Shuming held on Chinese traditional culture and thought that the revival of tradi- tional culture could awake the national spirit. So a series of debates were launched between the Conservative School and New Culture School. The arguments on Chinese and Western culture were the national soirit mainstream at that time.
