| Abstract: | Culture and language are mutually dependent. The language of a nationality reflects its culture while the culture's development influences the language. This article analyzes and compares the features and sources of Chinese and English surnames and names. With lots of examples, the paper illustrates that surnames and names reflect several aspects of culture, therefore, they can be regarded as the mirror of the culture of a nationality. |
