| Abstract: | On the communication between Master Wu Changshuo and his Japanese counterparts there has been much academic research, yet little has been done to explore his links with ordinary Japanese people. This paper seeks to describe his friendship with Shilayishi Mutusabulo, a Japanese businessman, with an intention to explain how Shilayishi had played a significant role in spreading Wu Changshuo's reputation in Japan after Wu had moved into his new house near the Mutusabulo Garden in Shanghai in 1913. |
