Abstract: | Summary About 41 to 51 polytrophic ovarioles comprise each of the two ovaries. Normal pre-oviposition period is five to seven days. Immediately after emergence the ovarioles do not exhibit egg rudiments and four days after emergence three egg rudiments are observed. The rate of development of egg1 is very rapid while that of egg2 is comparatively slower until the discharge of the egg1. Histology of the ovarioles is described. The nurse cells disappear before the onset of the chorionation of the egg and do not play any role in the corpus luteum formation. |
