戊戌维新时期对科学技术社会功能的两种解读

戊戌维新时期,中国出现了两种对科学技术社会功能的新认识.一是提倡普及科技知识,提高民众素质,充分发挥科学技术的物质力量.二是要用科学改造人的思维方式、传统文化和政治制度,发挥科学的精神力量.对于科学功能的不同定位正是理解维新派与洋务派政治思想分歧的关键所在.

Two Opinions About the Role of Science in the Period of Hundred Day''''s Reform(1898)

There were two opinions about the different roles that science plays in Wuxu Reforms at the end of the Qing Dynasty. One is that it enlightened people about improving the national quality of China and making full use of it material power.The other is that science helped us Chinese people update their ideological mentality,their cultural traditions and political systems and master the scientific spirit.Different assessments of the roles of science is the key to understanding of the political and ideological dispute between the school of Westernization Movement and that of Hundred Day's Reforms.
