The Reference of Theory - Constitutive Metaphor

Firstly, this paper explains the metaphoric structure of scientific models. Then it shows that if someone uses a metaphor or a model to express thought , some conditions must be presupposed. The first condition is that the metaphoric reference of a metaphorical term is the same as the reference of the primary subject; the second condition is that the way to fix the reference is by analogy. Lastly, the paper shows that the function of reference of theory-constitutive metaphors is to provide the epistemic access for scientific investigation and theory construction.
