上海是中国民族卷烟工业的基地。和在华外商相比，华商烟厂资本小，生产设备落后，产量低。市场的竞争和国内卷烟税的变化都使华商时刻处于艰难的生存压力之下。但华商烟厂历经磨难仍有相当的发展。

The Subsistence and Development of Chinese National Cigarette Industry

Shanghai is the base of the Chinese national cigarette industry. In comparison with the foreign cigarette plants run in China,the capital of ours was only a little,the machines to produce cigarettes were backward,so productivity was very lower. In addition the fierce competition and the change of cigarette tax at home were heavy burden for the Chinese cigarette plants to survive. However, under the difficult circumstances, the Chinese cigarette plants still made certain development.
