Detection and application of promiscuous mode network card in Linux-based LAN

This paper introduces a method which sets up the machine detection net card into promiscuous mode, and judges whether the net has done it already through sending ARP to check database package and waiting for responses, so as to test whether sniffer exists or not. The method can find out secret sniffers in the dark place in time,and deal with it earlier to ensure the safety of net performances. All these are important for maintaining communication secrecy of net users and safety of transmission of confidential files.The method can also provide reference to the net administrations as well.
