| Abstract: | The egg-laying mammals (Prototheria) synthesize L-ascorbic acid only in kidney, as is characteristic of reptiles. Bandicoots (Marsupialia) synthesize it in both kidney and liver. 2 other species of marsupials (kangaroos) synthesize it primarily in liver, but some individuals also synthesize in kidney. |
