Meaning and interpretation

Translation means to transmit an original message to the target language reader. Its main purpose is to exchange information and to serve the target language reader. In the process of translating the pragmatic texts, meaning should be given priority over form. Meaning is many leveled and complicated. Understanding is the first step in interpretation and the meaning is the central part in understanding. Only when the translator has understood the meaning of the original text can he convey it well to the target language reader.
