Dual Asymptotic method for Dynamic Analysis of Viscoelastic Damping Sandwiches

The dual asymptotic method for dynamic analysis of viscoelastic damping sandwiches is developed. With this method, the complex eigenequation with frequency variant coefficient matrix, which is introduced by the complex module of viscoelastic damping material, is solved in three steps, i.e. the solution of the real eigenequation, the first order asymptotic solution of the real eigenequation and the third order asymptotic solution of the complex eigenequation. Therefore, it overcomes the shortcomings of previous numerical methods, and has the advantages of convenience, high precision and economy, and can treat any practical sandwiches in engineering practice. This work provides a practical method for solution of complex eigenequation with the frequency variant coefficient matrix. Finally, the method is verified through laboratory experiments of the sandwich beam.
