Abstract:We investigate linear and nonlinear properties of coupled surface magnetostatic waves in magnetic superlattice films, or magnetic multilayers with a periodically corrugated surhce. On this basis of our previous work, we discuss linear and nonlinear properties of the stop-band resulting from the surface grating. The influences caused by the nonlinearity and the structure parameters (magnetic fiaction) on the coupled waves both are obvious. The nonlinear effects can lead to a downward shift of the stop-band, even make the entire stopband below cD b,which implies that bistable magnetostatic surface waves can exist. In the linear case, the Brillouin diagrams of the coupled waves show that the stop-band widens as the magnetic fraction is increased. In the nonlinear case, the stop-band changes complicatedly with the space grating period.
