Abstract:Summary Interactional patterns among bean-seed (Phaseolus vulgaris) clusters distributed on a table differed statistically significantly between when in clockwise rotating fields (table or magnetic) and when in counterclockwise fields or as nonrotating controls. It is postulated that clockwise rotation shortens the range of interactions. The author expresses his gratitude to Carol S. Chow and Kate M. Scow who oversaw the collection of most of the data, and to Prof. J.A. Lippincott for helpful discussion of the results. The study was aided by grants from the National Science Foundation, No. GB-41392X, No. BMS73-0191-A01 and No. BMS73-01591-A02.
