Contemporary Theories and Practice of Western Moral Education

Piaget's Theory of Moral Judgement of Child, Kolhberg's Approach to Moral Education, Elliot Turiel's Domain Theory and Carol Gilligen's Care Theory are influential and distinctive moral education theories in the west and have had enormous impact on the moral education in western schools. A correct understanding of the contemporary theories and practice of western moral education and of the problems confronting these theories and practice will surely help enhance the research into moral education in China so as to better direct our practice.
