试析英国在东南亚的早期殖民扩张

17世纪以来，英国殖民采取挑拨离间，玩弄骗术，制造口实，武力和恐吓并用等手段，分两路向东南亚进行殖民扩张。第一路扩张的重点在孟加拉湾至暹罗沿海，大规模的殖民扩张是从缅甸沿海向下缅甸推进，最后征服上缅甸；第二路扩张的重点在马六甲海峡及附近岛屿，以夺取马六甲海峡以北的马来半岛沿岸的槟榔、马六甲、新加坡等岛屿为据点，最后征服马来半岛内陆各邦。由于英国对东南亚两块殖民地的征服手段不尽相同，所以英国殖民统治的方式也略有区别。

On British Early Colonial Expansion to Southeast Asia

British colonialisms adopted all kinds of means, such as playing them off one against the other, playing tricks, fabricating handle and threatening with military force, to expand colony to Southeast Asia. The first route of expansion is from Bay of Bengal to Bay of Siam, and then to low Burma, finally occupied up Burma. The second route of expansion is the Strait of Malacca and near islands. British colonialisms occupied the Malay Peninsula, Malacca and Singapore etc as strongpoint, finally occupied all states in the Malay Peninsula. British means to rule is a slight difference due to different means to occupy in Southeast Asia.
