A Pragmatic and Cognitive Account of Banter in Literary Works

On the basis of the contextual factors as well as the complementarities of Relevance Theory and conceptual Integration theory This paper attempts to explore the production and the interpretation mechanism of banter in literary works.The production and interpretation of banters in literary works are restricted by contexts,where relevance is premise,context is restricting factor,Spatial conflict and spatial switching are bridges,and reasoning runs through the whole process.
