| Abstract: | This paper introduces the library activities made by the western missionaries in the modern times of China, which mainly include establishing the publishing organizations, compiling the western books, running the periodicals, originating the libraries, strengthening the construction of holdings, spreading the western library science and managerial conception, providing the open-shelve service for readers, etc. Their thought and activities possess important influence on the generation and development of Chinese modern library cause. |
