Abstract:Based on an actual magnetic model,the performance calculation and analysis for the fer-rofluid journal bearing are made with the axial magnetic volume force taken into account. Itis shown that the performance of the bearing,especially for the small eccentricity and smalldiameter-to-width ratio,is greatl influenced by the applied axial magnetic volume force.With an increasing magnetic field,for one thing,the load capacity of the bearing becomesgreater and the leakage flow becomes smaller and is possibly avoided,which shows the actu-al evidence of the composite journal bearing sealed and lubricated with ferrofluid;for anoth-er,the stability of the bearing goes worse.
