秦九韶评传

中国传统数学发展到宋元年间达到了鼎盛时期,秦九韶在宋元四大家(秦九韶、杨辉、李冶、朱世杰)中属姣姣者。本文研究了秦氏的生平、师承关系、数学工作以及他的德行等几个方面,肯定了他在大衍求一术上的卓越贡献和他在数学之源,数学之傅,数学之用等方面的精辟观点,同时也指出了秦氏在作风品德等方面存在的不足,较全面地给这位“最幸运的天才”以客观的评价。

Appraisal of Chhin Chiu-shao

The Song-Yuan Dynasty saw ta period of great prosperity in the development of Chinese traditional mathematics. During that period, Chhin Chiu-shao was the most successful one among the four noted mathematicians (Chhin Chiu-shao, Yang Hui, Li Ye and Zhu Shi-jie) . This paper probes into Chhin Chiu-shao's life story, his relationship with his masters and his mathematical contributions. It fully affirms his outstanding contributions to Da Yah Qiu Yi Shu and his penetrating analysis of the mathematical origin, on-passing and application. The paper also points out Chhin Chiu-Shao's weakness in work style and moral character.
