A discussion on the charge-surface-distribution model and the transition of electric field intensity

The magnitude of the charge layer thickness in charge-surface-distribution model was calculated. The result shows that the intensity of electric field alters continuously, and the so called“discontinuity”of the intensity of electric field between the two sides of the charge layer is caused by the approximation that regards the charge layer as a geometric surface. Two methods for calculating the intensity of the surface electric field of a charged conducting sphere are discussed as well.
