The Cognitive Foundation of Library and Information Science--Shera's Construction of Social Epistemology

To Shera's Social Epistemology,knowledge is referred to 'graphic record'which is distinguished into 'interior 'and 'exterior'in terms of its different carriers,then communication is the main approach for one to acquiring knowledge;The roles of his thoughts to the library and information consists mainly in the normal framework of theory,the normal extension in the classification of information,the intermediation of information and the critical advancement of expertise.Still,we point out the challenge coming from the Philosophy of Information to Shera's Social Epistemology.
