Abstract:The huge Three Gorges Project is technically complex. Quite a lot of technical breakthroughs have been made in such issues as river closure of the Grand Channel and the concrete construction of the cutoff wall, prompt concrete construction of the dam, high slope construction of the permanent shiplock, the large scale steel lined reinforced concrete penstocks of the power station, and the temperature and pressure maintenance of the spiral case, the asphalt concrete core wall, the metal works of the shiplock, and turbine generating units.
