| 摘 要： | 西方人有“beat about the bush”的语言习惯，汉民族也有含蓄委婉、避免直白本意的表达方式。全文从避凶求吉、避俗求雅、避重就轻、相互尊重等方面讲述英汉委婉语的用法，以求认同并达到应有的交际效果。

| Abstract: | Westerners have expressions which are implicit, mild and roundabout or avoid speaking bluntly. The article gives an account of the usage of English and Chinese euphemisms from avoiding the ill omen and dwelling on the luck, avoiding the vulgarity and dwelling on the refinement, avoiding the important and dwelling on the trivial, and respecting each other, etc. It aims to be approved and reach to deserved communicative effect. |
