Abstract:STAP has been widely studied for airborne radar as an approach to adaptively detect small target competing with ground clutter. Non-broadside array is also an important aspect of STAP. The non-stationary clutter ridge as a function of range accounts for much of the degradation at close range. The use of range varying adaptive weights with the extended sample matrix inversion(ESMI)technique 1] is widely applicable to a number of non-stationary problems including the case of the clutter ridge encountered in non-broadside array STAP. This paper further considers a new close range processor for non-broadside array, the so-called exponent extended sample matrix inversion(EESMI), which describes the change of weight as a exponential function. By that, the desirable performance of the close range processor is observed.
