Abstract:Co(NH_3)_5Cl]Cl_2 andCo(NH_3)_5H_2O]Cl_3 belong to the C_(4v) point group.Weexamine their vibrations with group theory,it turns out that their fifteen normalvibrations are reduced to eleven vibrational modes and four symmetry species.That is 4A_1,2B_1,B_2 and 4E.All vibrational modes are Raman active,A_1 andEare IR active,whereas B_1 and B_2 are forbidden in IR.The frequencies of IRand Raman spectra resulted from these vibrations are analyzed and answered theirassigning problems.
