| Abstract: | The reasoning of classical logic can only handle a two valued logic proposition while incapable of dealing with an uncertain or a vague proposition. It is proposed that the uncertain or vague knowledge can be represented with possibility distribution provided the possibility theory is introduced. When fuzzy reasoning is performed in an intelligent system, the result obtained by the method proposed is found to be better than that obtained on the basis of probability methods. This is very useful to improving the performance of the fuzzy expert system. |
