This paper summarizes the status quo of the writing forms of Chinese characters, expatiates on the main problems facing the perfection of the criteria of Chinese character forms, puts forward the four basic principles in the establishment of general character form criteria in handwriting forms: generalization, easy identification, smoothness and being pleasing to the eyes.
