袁晓园语文学术思想述评

汉字现代化研究会会长袁晓园先生的学术思想在语文学术界曾有一定的影响。其基本观点有二:一是“汉字的最大优点是简短明确”;二是极力提倡“识繁写简,繁简并用”,“以避免文化断代”。本文认为:简短明确乃汉语之优点,而非汉字;无论从字体变迁、文化传承、历史现状来看,批评简化字都是不公允的,“识繁写简”的提出是一个退步。

Comments on YUAN Xiao- yuan''''s Academic Thoughts about the Chinese Language

The chairperson of the Chinese Characters Modernization Research Society Madame YUAN Xiao-yuan's academic thoughts about once had a considerable influence on the Chinese Language learning circle. Her principal ideas can roughly be divided into two aspects: one is that the most obvious feature of the Chinese characters is its brevity and clarity; the other is that she proposed that people should learn to understand the complex form and use the simplified form of the Chinese language so as to avoid a cultural gap. The paper presents that brevity and clarity is not the feature of the Chinese characters but that of the Chinese language. Whether from the angle of the character styles or from the cultural inheritance or from the historic situation, it is not fair and just to criticize the simplified Chinese. So learning to understand the complex form while using the simplified form can only be considered a setback.
