Observation of the Morphology and Structure of Helvella Crispa under Optical and Scanning Electronic Microscopes

The structure of Helvella crispa Scop. ex Fr. was studied by opifical and scanning electronic microscopes. The apothecium of the Helvella crispa Scop. ex Fr. is composed of three parts: hymenium, hypothecium and excipulum. The hymenium is composed of ascuses and paraphyses which are mosaicked with each other. The former is round-tubular in form and has a stalk containing eight elliptical cospores arranged in a line and with a net-veined outer wall. Its top is not thickened with no top unit, but with a longitudinal fissure from whick the matured ascospores were sent out. The latter is thin and long with the transverse septum, and has a multicellular structure; its expanding top is higher than the height of ascuses and gathers to form the pseudoepithecuim. The hypothecium lies between the hymenium and the excipulum, and it is formed by the texture of globulosa and so is the excipulum.
