Abstract: Matrix metallop roteinases (MMPs) are zinc2dependent endopep tidases, which are capable of de2 grading all kinds of extracellular matrix p roteins. For their p ivotal roles on the tumor invasion and metastasis, MMPs are becoming the key point for the research of antitumor compounds. Here, we try to summarize the develop2 ment about the role ofMMPs in the tumor invasion and metastasis.
