| Abstract: | The Xuanguailu（玄怪录） and Xuxuanguailu （续玄怪录）contain at least 52 new words. The relationship between the two morphemes are various but not comprehensive. The part of speech keeps in agreement with the feature and function of the two morphemes. All this reflects that the use of the new word in this novel is conservative. |
