改进我国高校英语教学的探讨(英)

我国大专院校英语教学工作已取得很大成就，但为了提高大学生的英语水平，对英语教学还需要作进一步改进．作者建议：（1）使用部分原版教材及与这些教材相匹配的新的教学方法；（2）加强大学与大学毕业生工作单位之间的合作；（3）为英语教师提供施展他们语言技能的机会；（4）充分了解市场需求；（5）把大学生在工作单位表现的信息反馈给各级领导等．此外，教学计划必须适应新形势的需要，为学生提供更多的实践机会．讲课要精炼．学生听说能力的提高应放在首位．实践始于课堂，英语教师不是单纯的授课考，他们更应该是课堂的组织者和导演．他们必须擅长于创造生动活动的课堂气氛．

SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO BETTER TEACH ENGLISH IN CHINESE COLLEGES

Though fairly satisfactory, English teaching programs in Chinese colleges could and should be further improved to raise graduates' proficency in English. The author's suggestions include: (1) to use textbooks published in English speaking countries and new teaching methods that go with them; (2) to develop better cooperation between colleges and institutions employing college graduates; (3) to help teachers of English practice their expertise; (4) to have bette knowledge of the needs in a rapidly changing job market; (5) to follow the performance of college graduaus in work. In addition, teaching programs should be better adaptal to the current situation with special emphasis on giving students more practoce. Lectures should be condensed; priority should be given to raising students' abilities in listening and speaking. Practice begins in the classroom. Teachers of English are not simply narrators, but organizers and conductors. They must master the art of creating a livey dassroom atmosphere.
