It is seldom seen in general manufacturing that the machine parts use hardening by quenchingin the common type of grey cast iron,but with high temperature and heat rapidly in order to raise it's surface hardness and wearing resistance, it woul achieve good result. The article, from the theory of heat treatment and characteristic of grey cast iron, probes into the technology of grey cast iron quenching and resolves a problem of manufacturing, making an attempt in hardening by quenching of common grey cast iron.
