| Abstract: | It is urgent to get rid of the wrong ideas about religion and its relationship w ith science in China community. We should make clear the true meaning of religi o n, its social function and its relationship with science fundamentally in order to correct the attitude to religion and exert its function sufficiently and righ tly in the development of society. Under this situation, it is of great benefit to review Merton's propositions, comprehend relevant controversy and appreciate its theoretical significance. |
