Study on Lexical Blocking from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

Lexical blocking is a widely observed phenomenon which can be explained as the existence of one form prevents the creation and use of another form that would otherwise be expected to occur in the presence of some productive rules. The degree of lexical blocking varies from one to another. Since there are many cases of violating lexical blocking,the present article probes into the issue within the adaptation-theoretic framework. It may contribute to a deep understanding of the lexical blocking＇s production mechanism.
