咸丰三年钦天监教案考述

传教士想利用科技达到其传教的目的，清延对基督教传播的容忍却有限度。有清一朝发生在钦天监的教案共有三次。咸丰三年（1853）钦天监教案的发生不仅仅因为钦天监是西方传教士与清廷角逐的主要场所，还因为咸丰帝上台后内忧外患相交迭起。这次教案仅历经短短三天，并以较为温和的方式草草结案，其原因在于：无证据；钦天监不再是双方角逐的主要阵地；咸丰帝担心从严惩治会得罪西方传教士，不利于自己的统治。

Investigation on Missionary Case Concerned with Imperial Office in Charge of Astronomy in Third Year of

The missionaries would like to accomplish their mission by means of technology, while the Qing government could only tolerate the dissemination of Christianity to a certain extent. And there were three missionary cases concerned with the Imperial Office in Charge of Astronomy in the Qing Dynasty. The emergence of the missionary case in 1853, the third year of Xianfeng, was not only because of the essential role the Imperial Office in Charge of Astronomy acted in the competition between the Western missionaries and the Qing government, but also because of the situation of internal disorder and foreign invasions following the Emperor Xianfeng＇s ascending the throne. This case took only three days and ended mildly and hastily. The reasons were as follows： there was no evidence; the Imperial Office in Charge of Astronomy was no longer the important front for the Western missionaries to compete with the Qing government; the Emperor Xianfeng worried that the stern punishment would offend the Western missionaries and it would do harm to his domination .
