Abstract:The distribution of Cl atoms in chlorinated poly(butylene-1)(CPB) was inves-tigated by means of ~(13)C NMR of distortionless enhancement by polarization trans-fer (DEPT) and IR. The results show that the chlorination activity of the struc-tural units in poly(butylene-1) is in the order of-CH_3>CH_2(branched)>CH_2(backbone)>CH.Owing to the very small number of tertiary chlorines ((?)CCl) inmolecules, the CPB is better in thermal stability than the chlorinated ethylene-propylene copolymers.
