论悲剧宿命观在奥尼尔作品中的体现

On the Fatalistic Thoughts in O'Neil's Play

O ＇neill is one of the greatest masters of tragedy writing of the 20th century, whose primary concem is the inner world of morden man and the meaning of existence. Just as he put it, ＂To me, the tragic alone has that significant beauty which is truth. Tragedy is the meaning of life and the hope.＂ He is such a staueh mystic that fatality pervades his play. This paper intends to elaborate on the theoretical contexts of fatalism, the cause of formation of O ＇neill＇s fatalistic thought, which includes four major factors, and the refleetion in the plays.
