| Abstract: | A simple one-pot method for the Synthesis of p-nitrophenylsulfides has been developed. 4,4'-Dinitrodiphenyl disulfide(1) was treated with NaOH in CH_3OH and the sodium salt of p-Nitrobenzenethiol which formed was reacted with alkyl halides or its derivatives to give twelve S-alkylated product(3) in 81-98% overall yields. Reactions are clean, easy to perform and proceed under mild conditions. |
