衡阳解围战述论

在配合衡阳保卫战中，国民党军事委员会先后派出五个军自西向东，力图击破日军对衡阳的围攻，粉碎目军攻占衡阳的企图。虽然各解围部队做了最大努力，付出了重大伤亡，并且攻至衡阳火车西站、鸡窝山等地，离衡阳城只有一步之遥，但终于由于对敌情判断的失误、兵力部署失当、指挥系统紊乱、守城部队与解围部队缺乏配合，解围之战功败垂成，衡阳陷落。

During the Hengyang-protection battle, the Kuomintang military committee dispatched 5 corps to protect Japanese troops＇ from capturing Hengyang. The Kuomintang troops tried all means with heavy casualty and managed to approach as near as west railroad station and Chicken-coop Hill. Unfortunately, because of judgments on the enemy＇s information, improper deployment of Chinese troops, commanding disorder and poor cooperation between troops. Hengyang fell in Japanese troops＇ control.
