Equivalent Surrogates for Armor Target Damage Assessment by Kinetic Energy Projectiles

The damage assessment equivalence of special ammunition-target systems was discussed. Based on the damage mechanism of armor targets impacted by kinetic energy projectiles, the method of selecting surrogates for this typical ammunition-target system was advanced. In combination with a typical sample of tungsten alloy long-rod projectiles impacting on a certain type of tanks,target damage was assessed by using equivalent surrogates.The results show that equivalence surrogate method for damage assessment is feasible.The research is referencial to studying the equivalent surrogates and simulating targets.
