The author in the paper points out some common shortcomings in existing multimedia English-teaching software and puts forward some constructive suggestions in view of the shortcomings. In the author's opinion, multimedia CAI English-teaching software should be systematic, interactive, inspiring, interesting, original and should be designed in light of the user's needs. The software with such features will be likely to satisfy the needs of English learning and English teaching reform in the Age of Information and can certainly make multimedia CAI English teaching and English language learning interesting and highly efficient.
