| Abstract: | The paper discusses the penalty method of a constrained extreme problem in Hilbcrt space. The convergence theorem is proved and error estimate is given. We also describe some interesting properties of the penalized solution and construct a extrapolated method. Finally, the abstract results arc used to the thin plate bending problem and give the convergence theorems of a rnehtod proposed by M. ortiz and G.R.Morris. |
