Abstract:In this paper,polyethylene Glycol(PEG)was first used as phase transfer ca- talyst for Reimer-Tiemann reaction.The results of the experiments show that PEG is a good liquid-liquid transfer catalyst.Under phase transfer condition with Ethanal as solvent and PEG-600 as phase transfer catalyst,the yield of salieyl- ldehyde+P-hydroxylenzaldehyde is 93.9%(besed on phonol consumed)and 51.8% (besed on Chloroform).And we were found that the synergism of C_2H_5OH and PEG.
