党的十六大报告指出，要“形成全民学习、终身学习的学习型社会，促进人的全面发展”。这是我们党对马克思主义人的全面发展理论的继承和发展，是我们党顺应时代发展要求、应对知识经济挑战作出的一项重大战略选择。知识经济时代的来临和社会主义社会的本质，要求人要实现现代化和全面发展，而建设学习型社会，是实现人的现代化和人的全面而自由发展的必由之路。

The report on the 16th annual meeting of the CPC point out that we must construct a learning society in which all the people enjoy study and study in their whole lives to promote man's full-scale development. Our party inherits the theory of man's full-scale development from Marxism and develops it.
