Abstract: | Sediment physical
modelling is a reliable method to solve sediment problems in engineering practive. In the
modelling fine powdered coal is widely used. Sediment model test results on the Three
Gorges project carried out by different research institutes are and it is found that these
results are in agreement in property, but there are some differences in numerical value,
especially in the long duration sediment physical model experiment, where problems in
similarity of fine sediment motion characteristics is less studied. For analysis of the
reasons why there are variations in sediment model test results, by means of flume
experiment, the process of dry unit weight of fine powdered coal under water is studied,
the mechanism of compact of fine powdered coal and its influence on the threshold velocity
are also explored. The experiment results show that the compact degree of fine powdered
coal has some influence on threshold velocity. |
