语境功能视阈中的悖论语言

从表层意义和深层意义的对立统一关系出发,结合一定的语言环境,从语境功能视角分析了语言表达中悖论的修辞功效,指出悖论作为一种认知方式揭示了某一语境中所蕴含的潜在真理,同时构建了话语习常意义与语境所确定意义间的张力。在文学文本中,利用这种张力,可以深化所刻画的对象在读者心中的印象;在广告、新闻语篇中,可以借助这种张力,制造"谜团",吸引读者,实现"眼球"效应。

An Analysis of Paradox from the Perspective of Contextual Functions

Based on a study of the dialectical relationship between explicature and implicature of paradox,this paper then presents a detailed analysis of paradox and its rhetorical effects from the perspective of contextual functions.It assumes that paradox functions as an agent of cognition,capable of unveiling the underlying truth in a certain context,thus constructing the tension between the semantic meaning and the meaning that a certain context determines.The paper goes on to argue that in literary works,the said tension may help to deepen or highlight the readers’ impression of what has been depicted;in advertising or news texts,the tension may also help to create an effect of "reader involvement".
