王国维紧张人生解读

人的一生既是追求永恒价值的过程,更是企求消解困惑而又不能的迷茫历程。王国维力图从形而上的层面为人们开拓出精神的寄托与慰藉地,以平息躁动不安之心灵。但经历艰难的寻觅、反思,不但没有消除他心灵中的困惑,反而把他推向了更深的、不能自拔的"情感"与"理性"、"精神"与"功利"、"有限生命"与"无限欲望"的多重困惑之中。人有困惑,必求解脱。但王国维对宗教上的解脱存有疑虑,不得不从文学中、美学中寻求解脱。当种种解脱失效时,他最终选择了自沉昆明湖。

An Interpretation of Wang Guowei's Strained Life

A person's life is not only a process of pursuing eternal value but that of trying to remove his perplexity without being misled. In order to calm people's upset soul, Wang Guowei tried to open up a land of spiritual sustenance and consolation for them from the metaphysical perspective. Nevertheless, after his painstaking exploration and reflection, without eliminating his own perplexity, he was drawn into a deeper abyss of puzzles of "emotion" and "reason", "spirit" and "utility", and "limited life span" and "unlimited life desires". But where there is a puzzle, there is a desire of solving it. Wang Guowei doubted the religious methods of extricating himself from his perplexity. So, he invoked help from literature and aesthetics. When he failed in all his attempts, he was so depressed that he chose to commit suicide in the Kunming Lake at last.
