Study of traffic organization improvement methods of five-way junction

There are many badly designed five-way junctions in our country in early years which increases traffic presure and traffic accidents with the growing vehicle ownership in recent years. So it is necessary to optimize and improve this type of intersection. This paper discussed five-way junction reconstruction and the traffic organization design methods. Combining with casses study, various improvement schemes of five-way junction traffic organization were put forward. And the applicable conditions of each method were analyzed. At last, the paper took traffic simulation for each improved plan, compared and analysed the result in order to determine the optimal solution.
